Biography

Susan Elliott is an organization consultant who has worked in both the public and non-profit sectors. Susan Elliott is the Chair of the Development Program for Global-HELP and a Founding Member of the Board of Directors.

 

Susan has a long-standing interest in innovative projects, especially those that benefit women and children throughout the world. She established the Susan L. Elliott Endowment Fund in Pediatric Orthopedics at Children's Hospital in Seattle. She has a history of giving her time and talents to multiple causes. She is involved in the YMCA Partners with Youth Campaign, and The Coming of Age Program at the Center for Spiritual Living. She is a member of the Alexis De Tocqueville Society and is a Vice Chair of the Ambassador Program of United Way of King County.

 

She believes in being her personal best as well as being a contributing citizen of the world. Susan has traveled throughout the world to England, Scotland, Ireland, Greece, Germany, Australia, Papua New Guinea, Tonga, the Azores, Mexico, Honduras, and Panama.

 

Susan is a natural athlete and fitness expert. She served on the Executive Committee for HIV/AIDS Education for Group Health Cooperative in Seattle, and is involved in competitive swimming, ballroom dance completions, and scuba diving.

 

She worked as an organizational consultant at the University of Washington Medical School, and also has been a leader in training people in developing negotiating skills and in conflict resolution. Susan leads personal growth seminars as well as continuing education programs for professionals. A gifted public speaker, she has designed, written, and published materials for professional trainers and has worked in human resources.

 

Susan currently serves as Gates Challenge Coordinator for United Way of King County. In 1999, The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation gave a special $30 million grant to United Way of King County's Endowment Fund. They simultaneously committed $55 million in matched funds. It is Susan's current responsibility to synchronize the wishes of major donors with the requirements of the Gates grants.
